Quick Joshua Update
Joshua has a few new words, including "ball," "bubble," "book," and "mock" (milk). Again, he is motivated to learn how to say things he wants. :-)
Also, I wanted to jot down a few of his growth statistics before the paper gets lost on my desk again.
18 month appointment:
Weight: 26 lbs, 4 oz (50%)
Height: 32 1/4 inches (50%)
Head: 48 cm (50%)
He is 50th percentile across the board. Take that, those of you who talk about how huge my baby is. :-P He's just broad-shouldered!
I don't think I ever wrote down the 12 month statistics either:
Weight: 23 lbs, 12 oz.
Height: 29 1/2 inches
Head: 46.8 cm

Joshua at 9 1/2 months
We had Joshua's 9-month check-up yesterday (about 2 wks late) and his stats are:
Head circumference: 46 cm (65%)
Length: 28 inches (45%)
Weight: 21 lbs., 11 oz. (65%)
I'm flabbergasted that his weight is only 65th percentile. My back begs to differ.

SOOOOO Big!
Yesterday we had a joint pediatrician appointment for Katie and Joshua. When did Katie no longer get "well baby visits"? At her age they now call them physicals (I hate physicals!). Anyway, this was Katie's 2-year physical and Joshua's 2-month well baby visit.
Here are their measurements.

Here are their measurements.
Kathryn Lucia
Weight: 25 lbs., 14 oz. (47th percentile)
Weight: 25 lbs., 14 oz. (47th percentile)
Height: 35 inches (almost 3 feet! 76th percentile)
Head circumference: 49 1/2 cm
Head circumference: 49 1/2 cm

Joshua Roger
Weight: 12 lbs., 8 oz. (almost half of Katie's weight, 75th percentile)
Length: 24 inches (2/3 of Katie's height, 80th percentile)
Head circumference: 41 cm (75th percentile)
Weight: 12 lbs., 8 oz. (almost half of Katie's weight, 75th percentile)
Length: 24 inches (2/3 of Katie's height, 80th percentile)
Head circumference: 41 cm (75th percentile)

This is the first and last time their physical/well baby visits will coincide until they both are getting only annual visits.

Katie at 9 months
Katie turned 9 months old this week and we're still having a blast!
We had our 9-month dr's visit today and she is 18.8 lbs (50th percentile) and 28 inches (60th percentile). She's getting better at crawling, especially when she sees something she's not allowed to play with across the room. She's also becoming proficient at pulling herself to standing, and stood for a few seconds today without me holding her.
She's making me laugh this evening -- I'm teaching her to clap for the American Idol contestants. She made everyone at my dad's office laugh today when we stopped by with birthday presents (HAPPY BIRTHDAY, DADDY!!!) and she danced and laughed and cooed at everyone.
We had a rough weekend last weekend -- she had (at the same time) a bad cold, a 103+ degree fever, major teething issues, and a touch of the stomach virus that her daddy had had a few days earlier. Poor girl. But she seems to be all better now, and has 5 teeth now with 4 more about to pop out any day now.
She has no interest in baby food anymore -- besides nursing, all she will eat is Cheerios and whatever Mommy's eating. The doctor says it's ok to move her to adult food, and my friend Katie M. is lending me her food grinder, thank goodness.
Her big obsession right now is animals. You saw the earlier video with her meowing and mooing. She's now roaring like a lion as well. She loves dogs and cats and we go on walks everyday to try to see dogs in the neighborhood. We also visited the local animal shelters last weekend to try to find a dog for our family. We've put in three applications (see here and here for the doggies we've applied for) so we're hoping the right doggie comes our way!
Thanks to all of you for your support of our family.
